Ladies and Gentlemen,
Street Workout Magazine is happy to bring you PART ONE of the interview with one of the founding fathers of this calisthenics game - D.O.C. from Team Wingate. PART TWO (with Zef Zakaveli) will be released exclusively on the website so make sure to go add your name to the e-mail list so that you don't miss it when it drops.
For those who don't know already, D.O.C. is a pivotal figure in Bar Culture. His influence and innovation in the early days of the modern day NYC calisthenics scene had a profound effect on what would follow globally afterwards. Over the years he has honed both his filming and editing techniques and nowadays can produce epic pieces with the best of 'em (see for example: http://tiny.cc/BarBrawl1 ), but even early on, he used simple techniques like playing with different camera angles to showcase a unique perspective that other people simply didn't have.
With D.O.C.'s involvement in such projects as The Evolution of Exercise, Strictly Bar Talk, The Bar Club, Urban Fitness League, and more, that influence has continued for at least a decade into today.
To sum it up: The calisthenics game would not be the same were it not for his contributions to it. Point. Blank. Period.
In this part one, we discuss the early days of Team Wingate, how the team logo was created, how and why he first start filming and uploading what was happening in NYC during the 'Golden Age' and more. Check it out and show some love YouTube fam!
